Who doesn't know the history of indigo planters, the history of indescribable oppression of indigo planters on the farmers of Bengal during the British colonial rule is still the inspiration for the struggle of Amafs. The indigo planters built indigo factories in the Meherpur area. One of the notable indigo factories of Gangni upazila is Bhatpara Nilkuthi, which is located at Bhatpara in Saharbati union of Gangni police station. Destroyed in 1859, this indigo factory was built by brick, lime-shurki. Its roof is made of iron beams and brick tiles

The river Kajla flows by the side of this factory. Bhatpara Nilkuthi is a monument of national life and civilization situated on the banks of the historic Kajla river near the northern end of Gangni upazila. The 60-foot-long, 60-foot-wide main building still stands as a witness to the persecution of British banians.

Kuthi Bhavan and Nilgacha still remind us of the oppression and torture of indigo planters. Tradition has it that when you come here late at night, you can hear the sound of dancers' anklets and the howls of farmers. Although many tourists had come to Bhatpara Kuthibari before, they had to return disappointed after seeing the ruins.

At the end of 2016, the district administration decided to build the Nilkuthi house on the banks of Kajla river as a tourist center. Its work was started at the beginning of 2017. The house is already surrounded by artificial lakes, fountains, statues of various animals and birds, sports equipment, water and drainage systems, roads and flower gardens.

The size of the house, which was established on a land of about 26 acres, has been reduced due to allotment of several plots among the landless. Deputy Commissioner / DC Ecopark has been set up where it still exists.
