Amjhupi Nilkuthi

The unjust tyranny and plunder of just about 200 years of British rule remains fresh in history. There are still many establishments within the country as witnesses of that oppression and injustice. Such an amjhupi blue factory. The historical place of Meherpur is Amjhupi Nilkuthi, which is found in Amjhupi village. It's located 5 km far away from Meherpur city.

When indigo cultivation started during British period, it had been used as an indigo factory it had been later used as the office of the Malay Archipelago Company. consistent with historians, it had been founded within the 1800s. In 1962, when the indigo cultivation came to an end with the top of British rule, the primary government took the initiative to save lots of it.

At that point the locals were forced to cultivate indigo on their land. And if they didn't comply with indigo cultivation, inhuman torture would continue. It's heard that farmers were caught and tortured during this blue factory.

This historic indigo factory is found on quite 8 acres of land. The most building of the factory is found within the middle of the complex and there are flower gardens on either side of it. There are 15 rooms inside the building. The building also features a large hall room, dining room, ballroom and guest room. The river Kajla is on the side of the house. consistent with the architectural design, there was a tunnel path from the ground of a rest room within the main building of the factory to the encompassing river.

Apart from the history of indigo cultivation, a conspiracy was hatched around this indigo factory to get rid of Sirajuddaula from power. But consistent with many historians, that's just a thought . However, during the war of liberation, the expatriate government of Bangladesh was also formed at Amrakan in Vaidyanath Tala which is found near this indigo factory.
